Where the publication began

Ostar Review began in 2022 as a response to a gap observed by its founding editorial contributor, Eleanor Whitfield: that the space between popular wellness commentary and formally published nutritional research was underserved. Much of what was available to general readers either oversimplified established research or presented commercial perspectives without adequate disclosure of those interests.

The publication set out to occupy a different position — one grounded in the language and sources of peer-reviewed nutritional science, translated for a readership that was not professionally trained in the field but was genuinely interested in understanding the evidence behind everyday food choices. The first issues covered portion awareness, seasonal eating patterns, and the compositional logic of balanced meals.

By 2024, the editorial contributor network had expanded to include writers with backgrounds in food science, public health nutrition, and food journalism. The publication moved to its current premises at Great Russell Street and established a more structured review process for submitted content. The methodology governing that process is documented at length on the methodology page of this site.

Ostar Review is an independent editorial publication focused on everyday wellness practices. The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body.

03 — Editorial Position

What this publication does and does not do

Articles published on Ostar Review are editorial in nature and reflect the writers' observations on everyday wellness practices. The content is not intended as professional advice, nor as guidance for the management of any specific condition. Readers with specific concerns about their daily routines are encouraged to speak with a qualified wellness professional.

The publication does not accept payment for editorial coverage. It does not endorse commercial products. It does not publish content that has not passed at least a second editorial review. Where articles reference nutritional research, sources are cited or described with sufficient specificity for readers to locate the original publication.

Corrections are published when factual errors are identified. The date of correction and nature of the change are noted in the amended article. This is documented in the methodology section of this site.

We recommend speaking with a qualified wellness or nutrition professional before introducing any new habit or routine to your daily life, particularly if you have specific dietary requirements.

Editorial Principle
"The goal has always been to close the gap between what the research says and what the reader understands."
Eleanor Whitfield — Founding Editor, Ostar Review
